Through Patreon!
If you want the complete Gameplay Overhaul experience - all current Standalones, hundreds of Options and Presets, and the ability to fully customise the gameplay, join the Full Gameplay Package tier.
If you simply want access to the latest Standalones without all of the additional customisation, join the Standalones Only tier.
I also offer a free version of the mod. This is a single Standalone from an older release. The mod has continued to be worked on every day, with each version building on the previous.
Patreon support is what allows me to keep developing, testing and improving the gameplay throughout the lifecycle of the game.

Play first. Customise later.
Start by applying the Essential Settings, then choose Natural Dynamic+ and simply play. Don’t immediately start adding Options.
Get a feel for the movement. If you want something faster or slower, read the Standalone Differences guide and choose a Standalone that better suits you. Remember, every Standalone is already a complete, all-in-one gameplay mod.
Once you’re happy with your Standalone, keep playing. Only then ask yourself what you actually want to change.
When you have a specific reason to adjust something, explore the Options. Every Option includes guidance explaining what it does and how it will affect your Standalone.
In short:
Essential Settings → Standalone → PLAY → identify what you want to change → add Options slowly and with purpose.Don’t build a huge combination before you’ve even played the mod and be sure to READ the .PDF or .TXT file in each option folder BEFORE applying. If in doubt, REMOVE options instead of continuously adding.

Your gameplay settings are incorrect. The oversized ball is an intentional visual warning that the mod is not running with the required setup.
Make sure you are using:CUSTOM Gameplay Type
Authenticity Features: OFFDo not use Authentic Gameplay. If you’re playing Career Mode, remember that these settings must also be changed inside your Career Mode settings, as Career Mode defaults to Authentic Gameplay.

There isn’t one. Everything in the Gameplay Overhaul is designed with realism in mind, but realism is subjective. Different players value different things, and even factors like half length can completely change how a particular setup feels.
The Standalone is designed to provide a balanced, complete gameplay experience. Start there, learn how it plays, then use Options only if you want to fine-tune particular areas to suit your own interpretation of realistic football.
There is no universal “best” setup - the best setup is the one that feels right to you.
-
Don’t panic - speed increases are temporary.
EAFC can sometimes randomly speed up or slow down. This is a long-standing engine quirk and is not an intentional part of the Gameplay Overhaul.
When it happens, the entire game can feel unusually fast - movement, animations, reactions, collisions and general gameplay can all feel “turbo charged.”
It will settle and return to normal. This can take anywhere from a few hours to, occasionally, a few days.
If you’ve just installed the mod, don’t judge its intended speed from your first few sessions if the game suddenly feels unusually fast.
Unfortunately, there is no magic fix., but trust me - it will pass.
💡 IMPORTANT TIP - WANT SLOWER MOVEMENT?If you prefer slower movement in general, or you want to help settle things down during one of EAFC’s temporary speed increases, try the EASIER ALTERNATIVE Standalones.
It’s complicated as to exactly why, but they will definitely help the gameplay feel slower.
⚠️ There is a trade-off to be aware of: the gameplay may not be as difficult as it possibly can be when using these Standalones. That certainly doesn’t mean the gameplay can’t still be challenging, but it’s important to be aware of.
You can use them temporarily during a speed increase, or simply use them in general if you prefer how the gameplay feels.
-
No - and I completely understand the importance of movement.
First of all, I know that FC26’s movement isn’t perfect, and I’m hoping for more from FC27 too. From what I’ve already seen within the files, there should be more for us to work with moving forward, which is encouraging.
Also remember that there are many different standalones to choose from - each with their own unique movement balance. Don’t assume that because one doesn’t suit you, that they all feel the same. There’s also a possibility that you are experiencing a temporary speed increase as well - these always settle, so don’t judge the feel too quickly!
Outside of this, however, it’s important to remember that movement is one part of a much bigger gameplay picture.Positioning, decision-making, passing, defending, attacking behaviour, physicality, ball physics, difficulty, player individuality, match flow and countless other elements all contribute to how football feels on the pitch.
Imperfect movement doesn’t automatically mean terrible gameplay.
If the only measure of a football game is whether every movement and animation looks perfect, you can easily overlook everything else happening around it. And if we’re talking about being football purists, surely the football itself has to matter too.
Movement matters. But so does everything else.

Gameplay is incredibly complex. There are many interconnected systems, nuances and quirks, and changing one area can sometimes affect something you wouldn’t expect.
I know this because I’ve been deeply invested in these gameplay systems for years. I build and test the gameplay manually, change by change, which has given me a detailed understanding of how seemingly unrelated areas can interact. I want to give you the benefit of that experience when explaining why certain decisions, compromises or limitations exist.
There is often overlap between different parts of the gameplay, which means a solution that improves one behaviour may introduce a compromise somewhere else. Not every solution is perfect, and sometimes balance is more important than pushing one area as far as possible.
That’s why I always encourage you to zoom out from the specific thing you’re focused on and look at the gameplay as a whole. Explore the information available, try things for yourself, and judge the overall experience rather than one individual moment or behaviour.
It’s also important to remember that we all see “realistic” differently. I regularly receive completely contradictory requests - one person wants more of something while another wants less of exactly the same thing.
There isn’t one universal version of perfect gameplay. My aim is to create the best-balanced overall experience I can, while giving you the tools and information to shape it around what matters most to you.
-
Every Standalone contains the same core gameplay features and improvements. The main difference between them is movement - how players accelerate, turn, dribble, sprint and generally feel on the pitch.
Think of them as different movement styles built around the same Gameplay Overhaul, rather than completely different mods.
You only need to choose ONE Standalone. If you’re unsure where to begin, start with NATURAL DYNAMIC+, then experiment with the others if you want a different feel.
Same core gameplay. Different movement. Choose the feel you prefer.
-
The Standalone is built around what I believe is the best overall balance of enhanced FC26 gameplay. It isn’t designed to be the most difficult, most compact, more attacking or most extreme version of the game.
Remember, we all interpret “realistic” differently - regardless of how definitive we might feel about our own preference. What feels perfectly balanced to one player can feel completely different to another.
This is exactly where Options can be incredibly impactful.
For example, if you want a significantly more compact and challenging midfield, simply add MIDFIELD PLUS+ below your Standalone. It will transform the experience in a number of ways.
If I built that level of compactness directly into every Standalone, someone playing shorter halves or looking for a more open game may find it far too restrictive.
The Standalone gives you a complete, balanced and enhanced gameplay experience. Options simply allow you to take specific areas further and shape the experience around your own idea of realism.
That’s the philosophy behind the mod: REALISM. YOUR WAY.
-
Every single Option is explained. Inside each Option folder, you’ll find either a TXT file or PDF explaining exactly what that Option changes and the impact it will have on your Standalone.
Remember, the Gameplay Overhaul isn’t a modular mod. Your Standalone is the complete, all-in-one gameplay mod and is ready to play by itself.
Options are simply optional adjustments to that Standalone, allowing you to fine-tune specific areas of the gameplay if you want to.
Not sure what an Option does? Read the file inside its folder before using it.
-
This is directly related to your chosen Standalone. Some of the slower movement styles can cause players to jog rather than fully transition into a sprint.
For those who specifically want the much slower movement these Standalones provide, this is currently a trade-off for achieving that particular pace. If you don’t like the behaviour, simply move to a different Standalone - this does not occur across all Standalones.
I’m continuing to investigate this and have already made some progress towards a fix, so stay tuned for future updates.

The EASIER, TRAP and LOOSE ALTERNATIVES are modified versions of the Standalones that adjust specific areas of gameplay. You use them instead of the standard version - never together. You still only select ONE Standalone.
EASIER ALTERNATIVE
Removes the major V9 defensive breakthrough that makes CPU defenders track dribblers more effectively, close space earlier and apply greater pressure. The CPU becomes less aggressive when tracking attacking movement, giving you more space and making individual dribbling and attacking progression more forgiving.
TRAP ALTERNATIVE
Removes the deeper first-touch system introduced in V8 and returns trapping closer to the more traditional V7-style behaviour. Speed and momentum have less influence on first touches, resulting in less ball separation, fewer loose touches and more forgiving control when receiving the ball at speed.
LOOSE ALTERNATIVE
Provides a looser version of the V10 movement base, with greater ball separation and looser touches while jogging, sprinting and dribbling. This gives the ball more freedom from the player and creates a less connected overall movement feel, closer to V9/V9.5.
This is separate from first touch and trapping behaviour.
IN SIMPLE TERMS:
EASIER = less defensive pressure.
TRAP = more forgiving first touches.
LOOSE = greater ball separation during movement. If you enjoy the standard Standalones, you don't need any of them. They simply exist for those who prefer these specific gameplay differences.

Let logic guide you. Every folder is clearly named, and throughout the mod you’ll find guidance explaining what everything does - you just have to read it.
Want to change the ball size for example? Go to ALL OPTIONS → BALL SIZE OPTIONS. Inside that folder, you’ll find the available Options along with a TXT or PDF explaining exactly what they do and why.
The same principle applies throughout the entire package. Find the area you want to change, open the relevant folder, and use the information provided to guide you.
I’ve spent a huge amount of time taking an incredibly complex gameplay system and making it as simple as possible for you to navigate and customise.
In short: don’t guess. Follow the folders, read the information, and let the mod guide you.
-
Make sure you have selected the ATTACKING CPU SET-UP BASE, as outlined in Step 4 of the Essential Settings.
This is extremely important for encouraging the CPU to be more direct and willing to shoot, rather than continually recycling possession and passing between players.
If the CPU feels overly passive or reluctant to shoot, this should be the first thing you check.
-
In REVOLUTION HEAVY, you may occasionally notice a short delay between a foul occurring and the referee blowing the whistle.
I’ve extensively tested this and it appears to be directly linked to the reduced sprinting speed used to achieve the slower overall pace of this Standalone. Unfortunately, removing it would mean compromising the slower movement and pacing that REVOLUTION HEAVY is designed around.
You may also notice this to a lesser extent in some other slower Standalones, including X, XS and X ELITE.
📌 If the delay bothers you, I recommend switching to a different Standalone with a faster movement base.
-
Can’t open a TXT or PDF file? Move the file to your Desktop and open it from there - it’s just a Windows quirk. Alternatively, you can open the file through Google Docs.
-
This is intentional. The smaller ball was introduced after extensive testing because it produces more natural ball physics and a more realistic overall feel.
It may look unusual at first, but give it a few matches. Most people quickly adjust, and many find that returning to the larger ball afterwards actually looks and feels strange.
If you still prefer the previous size, simply use the “Ball Physics – Larger Ball – 4 (V7 Standalone Size)” option.
-
None of those things are fixed characteristics of the Gameplay Overhaul. The mod is capable of producing a huge variety of different experiences - how you set it up matters enormously.
If you don't like slow gameplay, don't choose one of the slowest Standalones. If you want a greater challenge, choose a setup that creates one. The Standalones, CPU Set-Up Bases and Options give you enormous freedom to shape the experience around your preferences.
The key is to approach the mod correctly. Play first, build slowly, and READ before adding anything.
The biggest mistake I see is people throwing together large combinations for no particular reason, or adding Options simply because they like the sound of the name. Every Option changes the balance of an already complete Standalone, and stacking changes without understanding their impact can quickly create an experience you don't enjoy.
-
The worst approach is adding options before properly playing the standalone - or adding multiple options without a clear reason. Balance is extremely important, and I want you all to have the best gameplay experience possible. But there is no way around it: gameplay is detailed, and every option can affect that balance. Start with your chosen standalone, experience it properly, and always use it as your reference point. Follow the provided information, add options one at a time, and make sure you understand each change before adding another. Build slowly!
-
The fouls you see in my videos are already built into the Standalone and are largely contextual, depending on the type of contact, challenge and situation. You don’t need to add anything special.
However, if you want to encourage more fouls, you can use the Referee Options, found inside:
ALL OPTIONS → REFEREE & FOUL OPTIONS
There are several levels of strictness to choose from, allowing you to find the level that best suits your preference.
It’s important to understand, however, that this isn’t a perfect system. Increasing foul frequency can sometimes result in contact being called that may appear clean or relatively minor. There unfortunately isn’t a perfect sweet spot that will suit everyone.
In the same way that default FC26 can sometimes fail to call contact that looks like a foul, increasing referee strictness can occasionally produce the opposite.
Ultimately, this comes back to the underlying collision and foul system within the game itself. The Referee Options simply give you more control over where you want that balance to sit.

Every new version introduces changes and improvements to the Standalones themselves. My aim is always to build the best gameplay possible, and as the base evolves, your reference point changes with it.
This means the same combination of options you used in a previous version may feel or balance differently when applied to the new one.
Even if you’re experienced with the mod, I always recommend starting with your chosen Standalone on its own, getting a feel for the new base, and then building your options back in gradually.
Balance is everything. Don’t assume your previous setup needs to be recreated exactly, you may find the new Standalone already achieves some of what you were previously using options to create.
-
Add MIDFIELD PLUS+. This is a major-impact option designed to transform the midfield experience. Simply place it below your chosen Standalone and you’ll immediately experience the difference. Positioning, marking, pressing, defensive structure and much more are changed to create tighter midfield battles and a more difficult avenue to goal - for both you and the CPU. If you want a more compact, structured and challenging midfield game, MIDFIELD PLUS+ will be perfect for you!
-
Absolutely. If you’re unsure where to start, try my recommended setup:
🔸 STANDALONE: NATURAL DYNAMIC+
🔸 ADD: MIDFIELD PLUS+ below it
🔸 CPU SET-UP BASE: ATTACKING
The ATTACKING CPU Set-Up Base is explained in Step 4 of the Essential Settings. This gives you a fantastic starting point with natural movement, a stronger midfield game and more purposeful CPU attacking behaviour. -
The mod itself is designed to be incredibly easy and logical to use. The PDFs are there because the details matter. Gameplay is complex, and many areas of the mod are built around subtle differences that can have a meaningful impact on your experience. I want to give you the information you need to understand those differences and make informed choices. Don’t be overwhelmed by the amount of information. You don’t need to read everything at once. Simply use the guides when you need them to help navigate the mod, understand your choices and gradually find your ideal gameplay experience. Play first. Explore slowly. Use the information when you need it.

Strip it back. Your Standalone is already a complete, carefully balanced gameplay mod. Every Option you add changes that balance, sometimes in ways you may not expect.
If something suddenly doesn’t feel right, start removing Options rather than adding more to try to fix it. Go back towards the Standalone, then rebuild your combination slowly.
Most importantly, understand what you’re adding. Read the TXT/PDF inside each Option folder, add Options with a specific purpose, and test each change properly.
An Option isn't necessarily bad because something feels wrong, it may simply not work within the balance of your particular combination.
Remember: If in doubt, REMOVE. Strip it back, find your balance again, then build slowly.

The new First Touch System, introduced in V8, is designed to add realistic depth to how players control the ball. The separation isn’t random - your approach to the ball, its speed, your movement and the direction you’re pushing into the touch can all influence the outcome. It rewards you for reading the situation and adjusting how you receive the ball, rather than every touch being perfectly controlled. However, if you simply don’t enjoy this system, you don’t have to use it. Select one of the TRAP ALTERNATIVE Standalones to revert to the previous First Touch System. Remember: you only ever use ONE Standalone at a time.
-
Don’t believe everything you hear.
There can be a lot of placebo within the gameplay modding community, where assumptions or expectations about what something should do can quickly become accepted as fact.
My advice is simple: trust what you actually see and experience on the pitch.
Test things for yourself, compare them properly and judge the gameplay based on what is actually happening - not simply on what someone else tells you is happening.
Your own experience should always be the reference point.

USE THE INFORMATION PROVIDED
For those familiar with previous versions, I’ve restructured how information is provided with the mod.
My website now contains everything you need to get started, including the core setup, how the mod works and the essential information you need before playing.
For anything beyond that, your first place to look should be the DETAILED INFORMATION folder inside the download. Here you’ll find more detailed Essential Settings, expanded explanations and long-form reference guides covering the mod in much greater depth.
You’ll also find READ ME files, PDFs and images with quick tips and important information throughout individual options and folders. These are there to explain anything specific you need to know as you explore and customise the mod.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you explore the download using Windows File Explorer, not just through Mod Manager. Mod Manager will not show all of these additional READ MEs, PDFs and images, so browsing only through Mod Manager means you may miss important information.
You do not need to understand the technical side of modding — I’ve done that part for you. Follow the folders, read the information provided and let it guide you.
